Last weekend

Sorry for not posting, had to get my first blog lapsing out of the way. Moving on...

So praise the Lord I survived the chicken plants (yes, plants as in I had to work at two of them last week)! It was quite the experience as I have never really been to a factory before, much less one that supplied me with chicken in Kroger. They tried to make me go on a tour of the plant, and I passed just in case I had to eat chicken for dinner.

But before I tell you about my awesome last job in the beautiful Greenwood, MS, I have to tell you about the mouse incident in Vicksburg. It was probably a bigger deal at the time, but that's just how it goes.
So I spend the weekend in Vicksburg, like usual. Justin lives there, and where he is is where I want to be pretty much all the time so.. On Saturday, we get up early because Justin is helping his roommate build a deck. Unfortunately my plan was to take pictures and show yall how handy he is, but I got sidetracked. Anyway, so he's outside and I'm left inside with my sweet puppy and laundry. Being the sweet fiance I am, I start washing and folding clothes and putting them away (something Justin hates to do, folding, not laundry). So as I'm putting up towels in the closet, I move a rag on the top shelf, and a head pops out. Needless to say, I scream in the traditional loud shrill and run to the back door where I can tell Justin that hey, there's a mouse in the closet. Well, unfortunately, he did not come to my rescue like I thought he would. In fact he just said that he'd get traps later, and not to worry about it. Well that was just upsetting. In fact, I spent the rest of the day at a friend's house, and didn't want to even sleep there, but I was just being dramatic I was told. We're fine now.

here's the only picture of the day.
of my sweet boy on the left and nash on the right, supervising the build.

And it turns out that it wasn't just a mouse, it was a momma mouse and two babies. Fortunately, we caught the two babies, and threw one out the back door (the other one sadly passed as Justin's roommate tried to play mom [I'm not really that sad]). To this day, the momma has not been caught (obviously Beaux is not doing a good job), but Justin is getting ruthless and getting better traps today.

Hopefully she will be gone the next time I go over there, which will be a while.
For now, I've got to go audit stuff.

Painting Class

(Warning: This doesn't have much to do with wedding planning.)
So Broadmoor (our large and lovely church) does these Women's Night Out classes where it's basically grown up arts and crafts. I usually would suggest doing this with a nice bottle of Chardonnay, but we're Baptist. So that ain't happening.

Nevertheless, there was fun had by all, especially the gossiping between Mom and I (seeing as we haven't really seen each other since Thursday night, it was necessary). And we even got some wedding planning done (social events always turn into some type of planning, it seems). We asked a lovely lady that Mom knew from Broadmoor (of course) about arranging the flowers for the wedding. She's never done cotton as a flower arrangement, but she says she's excited to try.

Side note: So the wedding theme is kind of southern-y. Like my colors are peacock, cream, and burlap. So I've decided to use cotton instead of flowers wherever possible. Don't knock it until you've seen it. Thanks to Pinterest, I'm not the only one currently obsessed with this. And seeing as we have a cotton farm, it's budget friendly (which Mom is obsessed with).

here's an idea (minus the dark ribbon)
Anyway, back to the painting class. It was a lot fun and productive. Here are some pictures of the wonderful works of art that Mom and I painstakingly made (with stencils, of course).

Mom and her beautiful painting

My painting, a work in progress.
Fortuantly, the lady in charge will continue to work on our canvases and touch them up so I pray they are returned to us as beautiful pieces of art.

For now, I'm off to work in Collins at the chicken plant. My excitement cannot really be conveyed through this blog, but a job is a job (and it's way better than wasting hours in the office as an intern).

First Post!

So it's official. I now have a blog to share this wedding journey.
(I'm sure this will be a new experience for everyone).
So for now, I leave you with a picture that makes me remember why I'm planning this thing in the first place.
